Privacy Policy

Radio Trainer is a free beta run by one person. There are no accounts, no payments, no advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts of any kind. This page describes exactly what the app does and does not store.

What the app stores

A random visitor ID. The first time you visit, your browser generates a random identifier and keeps it in localStorage. It is not linked to your name or any account, and it lets the app apply a daily practice limit and see whether people come back.
Your IP address. Recorded with your practice sessions and used to enforce per-network limits and prevent abuse.
Practice activity. Which scenario and step you attempted, when, how many transmissions you made, response times, and the API cost of each turn.
Your chosen callsign and aircraft type, if you enter them.
Feedback you submit through the feedback box: your message, the scenario you were on, and your email address only if you choose to give it.

What the app does not store

Your microphone audio is never saved. While you hold the mic button, audio streams to our speech-to-text provider for live transcription and is not written to our disk.
Your transcripts are never saved. What you say is held in memory only for the duration of the scenario — so the AI controller can reply in context — and is discarded when the session ends. It is never written to disk.
No cookies. The app uses browser localStorage only.
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts.

Services the app sends data to

To make the conversation work, parts of a turn are sent to a small number of third-party service providers, who process it on our behalf under their own terms. By category:

A speech-to-text provider — receives your microphone audio in order to transcribe it.
An AI language provider — receives the text of what you said, plus the current scenario's exchange, to assess the call and generate the controller's reply.
A text-to-speech provider — receives only the controller's reply text, to speak it aloud. It never receives your voice or your words.
A cloud hosting provider — runs the application.

Nightly backups of the stored data described above are kept in a private repository.

How long it is kept

Practice activity, session records and feedback are kept while the beta runs. Nightly backups are retained for 365 days.

A note on callsigns

If you enter a real aircraft registration, it is stored alongside your session record. A registration can identify a real aircraft and its owner. If that concerns you, use any valid-format callsign instead — the app treats them all the same.

Your choices

Clearing your browser's site data for this site removes your visitor ID, callsign, and settings, and your next visit is treated as a new visitor. If you would like the data associated with your visitor ID or feedback removed, ask via the feedback box and it will be deleted.

Children

This app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
